The first three months of the year have been busy for team DYWICH with over 100 events and activities organised for the fourteen schools in which are school co-ordinators are based across Inverness & Central Highlands.

It takes a team effort to support young people to prepare for the world of work and we have worked with a range of employers and partners to host careers fayres, interactive workshops, work placements, employer site visits, mock interviews, skills development & employability sessions.

Every day we see the positive impact of businesses being involved in providing inspirational opportunities for young people. It helps to build their skills for both work and life, adds relevance to their academic work and raises the career aspirations amongst our future workforce.

For employers, engagement in schools and colleges can give them access to a diverse pool of future talent, making recruitment easier and less time consuming as well as providing a pipeline of skilled potential future employees ready for work.

Eilidh Edgar, Programme Manager at Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highlands said:

“We are always looking for more employers to get involved and we want to thank all those that have taken part in the many events and activities over the last few months. Many young people don’t know what they want to do so employer engagement can help them explore the options about what’s out there and for those pupils who do know what they want to do it provides them with valuable support on their journey, helping them to develop the skills they will need to succeed.”

If you are a local employer and would like to find out more about getting involved in future events and activities, then please email DYW Inverness & Central Highlands at info@dywich.co.uk or call us on 01463 228389.
