West Fraser is a diversified wood products company with more than 60 facilities in Canada, the United States and Europe. From responsibly sourced and sustainably managed forest resources, the company produces lumber, engineered wood (OSB, LVL, MDF, plywood, particleboard), and other products including pulp, newsprint, wood chips and renewable energy.
Our UK-manufactured products are used extensively in the construction, DIY and furniture sectors. Our brands, SterlingOSB Zero, CaberFloor and CaberWood MDF, are well known in the construction industry and are commonly specified by architects, national housebuilders and specifiers.
We are proud that as a certified net carbon negative company we lock up more carbon in our products than we emit making them, helping the UK construction sector comply with net zero targets and beyond.
We are currently recruiting Technical Manufacturing Apprentices to be based within our multi-million-pound investment plant in Inverness.
These are two-year programmes consisting of a combination of theoretical learning and practical ‘hands on’ experience. Throughout the programme students will work closely with the college to build a comprehensive portfolio and will be monitored through continuous assessment. Upon completion of the apprenticeship programme you be qualified as a Production Operator. The experience you gain will be of great value to your future careers.
To be successful for the West Fraser Apprenticeship Programme applicants will hold Scottish National 4 Grades in English, Maths and a Science. Students will be high energy problem solvers who are resilient and detail oriented. You will be safety driven and flexible in order to meet the specific demands of the role.
These are fixed term roles with the opportunity to apply for available permanent positions upon completion of the apprenticeship programme.
This is an exciting time to join a well-established and expanding company.
