Partnership project gives Engineering students opportunity to put learnings into real-life practice

One of the main objectives of Developing the Young Workforce Inverness and Central Highland (DYWICH) is to bring together employers and educators to enhance learning experiences for young people, so that when its time to leave school they have a better understanding of the world of work. A partnership project hosted at Milburn Academy came to to life following a showcase event held between employers and teachers. RBYKA was interested in getting involved and, together with teacher Mr Tilman, an opportunity to put students learnings in the classroom was developed. Read the full case study here....

S2 Criminology Talk - Bringing the Curriculum to Life

Inverness High School S2 Criminology class teacher wanted to get a speaker in early in the school year in order to motivate them for the coming year and help to bring the subject to life. Graham Strong who is a scene examination supervisor for Police Scotland agreed to come in. Grahams job is to analyze crime scenes using science. He is a great link for this class to help young people understand how science is used within criminology. Find out more in this case study.

Seven Inverness High School pupils were given the opportunity to do barista training within a local café called The Bike Shed. They would learn the necessary skills to work in a café and as a benefit would also get some budgeting advice from a separate company called CAP.
