Celebrating #DYWDecade: A Milestone in Developing the Young Workforce
13 December 2024

In January 2025, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) will celebrate ten incredible years of preparing young people for the world of work. Through the #DYWDecade social media campaign, we’ll shine a spotlight on the achievements made possible by collaboration between employers, partner organisations, educators, and professionals across Scotland.
This milestone is a team effort, and we couldn’t have reached it without the ongoing support of those who engage in Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH) activities. Together, we’ve inspired and prepared our future workforce, benefiting young people and industries alike.
We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone by sharing your DYWICH stories and successes through the #DYWDecade campaign. Whether you’re an employer, educator, parent, or young person, your experiences matter and highlight how we’ve built stronger connections between education and employment.
How DYW Supports Employers, Educators, and Young People

- Diversify your workforce and shape your talent pipeline.
- Inspire young people and raise your profile as an employer of choice.
- Build community connections and meet corporate social responsibilities.
DYW offers guidance to help you decide on activities, from work placements to skills sessions, tailored to different stages of education. Get started and explore how your organisation can make a difference today.
Educators
DYWICH enhances the Curriculum for Excellence, empowering educators to connect with employers and provide real-world learning experiences. Through partnerships with DYW School Coordinators, educators can:
- Access employer-led industry insights for professional development.
- Provide employer-led experiences for students, such as mock interviews and workplace visits.
- Help young people develop skills, knowledge, and confidence for their next steps.
Get in touch with your DYW School Coordinator to bring these opportunities to your school or classroom.
Young People and Parents
DYWICH makes it easier for young people to explore their interests, strengths, and career options by connecting them with employers. Through DYWICH, young people can:
- Understand the world of work and how their skills relate to jobs.
- Build confidence and networks for future opportunities.
- Experience the workplace through activities like career events, work placements, and more.
No matter where they are, young people can gain valuable insights and experiences through DYW activities. Connect with your DYW School Coordinator to explore opportunities.
As we celebrate ten years of Developing the Young Workforce across Scotland, let’s continue working together to inspire the next generation and create a stronger future for all. Join the conversation and share your #DYWDecade story with us!
