DYWICH to Host STEAM Ahead Expos Showcasing AI and Emerging Careers
25 September 2025

Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH) is set to inspire the next generation with its STEAM Ahead Expos, designed to give S3 pupils a hands-on insight into how artificial intelligence (AI) is shaping future careers across high-growth sectors.
The Expos will take place on Thursday 13 November 2025 at Invergordon Academy and Tuesday 2 December 2025 at Inverness Royal Academy, welcoming pupils from all 14 secondary schools in the area with an interest in STEAM subjects and AI. Through interactive workshops and real-world employer insights, young people will explore opportunities in six key sectors: Engineering, Creative & Digital, Energy, Food & Drink, Construction, Tourism & Leisure.
Liz Fletcher, DYWICH Programme Lead, said, "DYW want to inspire the next generation by shining a light on AI and other new technologies. We want young people to be excited by AI, understand how it is and will influence future jobs whilst recognising the qualities and skills they still need and will bring to the key sectors as they change and develop."
Each sector will host two employers delivering six 20–25-minute workshops to small groups of up to 10 pupils. Workshops are designed to be interactive, giving participants the chance to experience how AI is being used today and how it may transform industries in the future. For example, in Construction, pupils might explore AI-powered project planning, safety monitoring, or even 3D-printed structures using VR and digital design tools.
Alongside the workshops, attendees can visit the Future Skills Station and Careers Wall to discover AI-influenced roles across all sectors.
DYWICH is inviting more employers to take part. If you are interested in delivering a workshop or supporting the Expos, please get in touch at info@dywich.co.uk.
