From YPG to DYW Pledge – A Fresh Look, Same Commitment

15 August 2025

From 1 August 2025, the Young Person’s Guarantee Pledge will be known as the DYW Pledge. This update is part of a Scotland-wide move to strengthen the Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) brand and make it clearer that it’s DYW regional teams – like DYW Inverness & Central Highland – who work directly with employers to bring the pledge to life.

While the name and branding are changing, the purpose remains exactly the same: recognising and celebrating employers’ commitment to supporting young people into the world of work. The DYW Pledge is simple, flexible, and adaptable to suit your business – whether you can offer a one-off insight into your industry, or long-term opportunities such as apprenticeships and work placements.

Liz Fletcher, Programme Lead at DYW Inverness & Central Highland, said, “The DYW Pledge builds on the success of the Young Person’s Guarantee Pledge and keeps the focus where it should be – on creating meaningful opportunities for young people, while helping employers build their future workforce. This is about celebrating the great work our employers are already doing, making it easier for others to get involved, and strengthening the connection between businesses and the next generation.”

If You’re Already Signed Up

If your business has already signed the Young Person’s Guarantee Pledge, you don’t need to take any action – your commitment will carry forward automatically under the DYW Pledge.

We’ve been in touch with all our pledge partners to explain the change, share the refreshed branding, and provide updated resources. The new DYW Pledge digital badge is available now, ready to be displayed on your website, email signature, social media, or other communications to show your support.

Our DYWICH team is also here to help you:

  • Revisit or update your original pledge areas
  • Share any new opportunities you have for young people
  • Highlight your business in our regional and national DYW Pledge campaign

If you’ve got a success story to tell, we’d love to hear from you so we can showcase the impact your business is making.

If You Haven’t Signed Up Yet – Why Now is the Time

If your organisation is passionate about inspiring and supporting young people – and sees the value in developing a skilled future workforce – the DYW Pledge is the perfect starting point.

By signing the DYW Pledge, you’ll:

  • Join a growing network of employers committed to making a difference for young people in the Highlands
  • Receive practical, tailored support from the DYWICH team to connect with schools, colleges, and young jobseekers
  • Get access to resources, including the DYW Pledge digital badge, to help share and promote your commitment
  • Be recognised for the great work you’re already doing, and supported to explore new opportunities.

The DYW Pledge is flexible, so whether you can offer a single school visit or an ongoing placement, your support counts.
