Inverness High School Secures Defibrillator Thanks to Successful Charity Football Match
5 September 2025

The match – which saw senior pupils and teachers take on a team of Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH) employers – raised an outstanding £1,217.60, enough to purchase and install the life-saving equipment for the school and its surrounding community.
The event, organised by DYWICH School Coordinator Emma Donald, was part of the school’s wider commitment to tackling social issues and building strong partnerships with local employers and the community. The match also featured special guest appearances from Inverness Caledonian Thistle players, adding to the excitement on the day.

Emma Donald, DYWICH School Coordinator, said, “We are delighted to share the fantastic outcome of such a positive and inspiring event. Together, we raised an incredible £1,217.60! This remarkable achievement is down to the enthusiasm and generosity of our young people, the support of local employers, and the dedication of our staff. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we are proud to announce that we have secured a vital piece of lifesaving equipment – a defibrillator – for our community.”
Headteacher Vicky Forrester added, “We are so grateful for all the support and fundraising to ensure the school and local community groups now have access to a defibrillator. It wouldn’t have been possible without DYW and the fantastic partnerships that came together to make this happen.”
Inverness High School and DYW Inverness & Central Highland would like to thank the businesses and organisations who supported the event, including: Creative Sign & Print, Morrisons, Ross County FC, Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC, Morrison Construction, The Mustard Seed Restaurant, Highlands & Islands Police, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Skills Development Scotland, GA Barnie, Inverness High Active Schools, Harry Gow, Highland Rugby Club, Highland Council Youth Development, Merkinch Football Association, and Rachael Hatfield Photography.
The new defibrillator is now installed at Inverness High School and will be accessible not only to staff and pupils, but also to local community groups who use the school facilities.
This initiative highlights the power of collaboration between schools, employers, and the community, showcasing how young people can make a tangible difference to the lives of those around them.
