Kingussie High School S2 Startup Challenge – June 2025

Rural Careers Experience Day
Pupils at Grantown Grammar and Kingussie High School were offered the opportunity to have interactive experiences with local employers from across the rural sector, to raise their awareness of the variety of careers that exist in the sector in the local area, and maybe even inspire them to consider one of these roles in the future.

Culloden Academy Gardening Club
This visit was organized on behalf of the Culloden Academy gardening club which caters for a small group of pupils. The aim was to inspire them and help them with ideas for their own planter projects around the school, and to make them aware of the wide range of careers and pathways available to them in gardening.

Bam Nuttall - Rothera Pier Project - Bringing the Curriculum to Life
BAM Nuttall worked with Culloden Academy to help S3 pupils with technical learning by using their real life Rothera Pier project to teach Curriculum for Excellence outcomes.

Barista Training
Seven Inverness High School pupils were given the opportunity to do barista training within a local café called The Bike Shed. They would learn the necessary skills to work in a café and as a benefit would also get some budgeting advice from a separate company called CAP.
